Hi everyone! Wow wow wow this trip has been so busy and so fun and so exhausting that posting has really been put on the back burner. But I guess that’s not the worst thing since it means we are doing our best to soak it all in. But at the same time, it means we are very poorly keeping you all up to date on what is going on here so I’ll do my best to recap!

Day 16 Camino Day 12: We walked 14km from Melide to Ribadiso

Day 17 Camino Day 13: We walked 14.5km from Ribadiso Salceda

Day 18 Camino Day 14: We walked 8km from Salceda to O Pedrouzo

Day 19 Camino Day 15: We walked 12.6km from O Pedrouzo to Vilamaior

Day 20 Camino Day 16: We walked 10km from Vilamaior to SANTIAGO!!

Day 21-23: Went to the West coast of Spain to Finisterre (AKA the end of the world!!!)

Day 24-26: Continued exploring Santiago

Day 27: Began our travels to Lourdes, France

Day 28: TODAY! Day 2 in Lourdes and absolutely loving it.

This is the most simple and basic recap, but I’ll give some more background for your all since so much exciting stuff has happened! Most of our walking days were fairly uneventful, it was just a matter of getting from point A to point B. On one of the days (I believe Camino Day 12 or 13) I actually got a flat tire on the stroller. I happened to roll over a pin someone had dropped that was likely on their pack and it punctured my tire. By the time I noticed the tire was nearly flat and we still had quite a ways to go. The next day a Camino friend of mine asked a bicyclist if they could help me since I didn’t manage to pack my own repair kit (whoops). Unfortunately, when we got the tube out, it was so damaged from being used while flat for so long that there were a ton of holes and it wasn’t patchable. The only option was to replace the entire tube which I couldn’t do since nowhere sells small enough tubes other than online (at least where I was at the time). So, we continued on with a flat tire and still have a flat tire haha. I figured I’ll fix it when I’m home since it technically still works, even though slightly more annoying now.

That same day we met another young woman with an 8 month old baby girl walking with her friend! It was so fun to chat with them and share our struggles and joys of doing the Camino with babies. Once we made it to O Pedrouzo we stayed at a very unique spot. It was a “glamping” set up for pilgrims! They had tons of big tents set up, sort of like a yurt, with beds inside that had heated mattresses, lights and fans. At the site there were showers and a bar, and outside seating. Basically, camping, but more luxurious haha. We loved the experience and really enjoyed it! Technically, it was my sons first time camping you could say, so that was cool! It was a chilly night so thankfully we had the heated mattresses (I think just a heated blanket under the sheets) which kept us cozy and warm!

We left O Pedrouzo and stayed in Vilamaior in what was basically a hotel. It was quite nice, and had a lovely restaurant with amazing food. My Dad finally got to try Octopus which we both enjoyed! My son wasn’t as big of a fan though. We enjoyed our last night of the Camino before finally reaching Santiago the next day. It was so weird to go to bed and realize that the next day after only 10km we would be in Santiago, in front of the Cathedral that we have spent the last 4 years and 790km waiting to get to.

I’m going to save the rest of the updates for our next posts because there is more to report once we hit Santiago and I don’t want this post to get too long.

Thanks for your patience and prayers and following along! We are grateful for each and every one of you and will continue to pray for you and your intentions while we are in Lourdes!

God Bless,

Hannah, Tony and Baby
