Hannah:

Hello everyone! Today we completed 19km! It went quite well, despite the intense during the last hour. Even though we had lots of jackets and rain covers we all got wet by the end. Even then, we still enjoyed it! Today was a very flat day so it made the longer km’s feel easier. My Dad left an hour before me to get a head start but because he never stopped I didn’t meet up with him until about five hours later. That’s not our preference but just how it goes some days.

We’ve met so many wonderful people so far, and many willing to help with the baby. Everyone wants to hold him or play with him and offers so much help constantly. People along the Camino are like family and always willing to help. For instance, I was trying to put the rain cover on the stroller and having a hard time. At home no one could figure out how it went on. Some pilgrims stopped to help and between 5 of us we couldn’t get it. Until, a wonderful Italian woman stepped in, grabbed the cover and singlehandedly applied it with ease. She was truly a hero in that moment since the rain poured down shortly after!

We are at a small, quaint albergue with lovely hosts. They made our dinner which was fantastic. Soup, salad, bread, pasta, and of course wine. Even my son loved it! In the morning we have a few flat km’s before a big uphill climb. If I’m not mistaken, we climb 700m over 5km. Because I despise pushing a stroller uphill I’ll be carrying my son, sending the stroller ahead and my Dad will be sending his bag ahead. No point torturing ourselves if we don’t have to! Thankfully I was able to reduce my pack weight by 5lbs, which means I’ll carry a total of 36lbs over approximately 9km. Pray for me!

And now, long awaited bed time. Thank you for following along! God bless,

Buen Camino!
